Who are we?
SCB Europe is part of the global family of the Society for Conservation Biology (SCB), the leading international community of professionals, students, and non-profit organizations dedicated to biodiversity conservation. As a European region of SCB, we work to advance the science and practice of conserving nature across Europe, while connecting local efforts to a worldwide network committed to protecting life on Earth.
SCB Europe Region focuses on the conservation of biodiversity in Europe and the EU.
Our Mission:
The SCB Europe Region is a network of professionals working for the conservation of biodiversity with a special interest inEuropean issues. - The principal goals of the Region are:
- To increase awareness and understanding of European conservation issues.
- To strengthen conservation biology research and its application in Europe .
- To advocate for biological diversity and willingly offer and promote the role of scientific review in assessment of conservation strategies.
To develop, promote and facilitate networks of communication and collaboration among Society members, and other researchers, managers, government agencies and non-governmental organizations in Europe and throughout the world.
SCB Europe has:
- An international Board of 12 members.
- Five standing committees: Policy, DEIJ, Communication, Education, and Membership.
- Currently four Chapters (Italy, Hungary, Nordic, Israel).
- Over 500 members, representing 28 countries from all over Europe.
