Awards

The SCB awards program honors scientists and institutions around the world for extraordinary contributions to conservation and the preservation of Earth's biodiversity. SCB Europe Region celebrates excellence and creativity in biodiversity conservation through a range of awards that recognize contributions across career stages and disciplines in Europe.

The Early Career Conservation Award highlights outstanding achievements by emerging conservation scientists and practitioners. The Ilkka Hanski Distinguished Service Award honors individuals who have made exceptional, long-term contributions to conservation biology in Europe. During the European Congress of Conservation Biology (ECCB), the Arts Awards celebrate creative expressions that connect people and nature.

In addition, SCB-Europe supports and encourages the next generation through poster prizes for young researchers and initiatives such as nature drawing competitions for children.
