Vision

We envision a world where people recognize, cherish, and safeguard the richness of life on our planet. In this world, SCB is a diverse, inclusive, and equitable global community of professionals, students, organizations, and supporters, serving as a leading voice for the science and practice of conserving Earth’s biodiversity.

DEIJ statement

In alignment with the Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) Global’s statement, the Europe Region acknowledges that the success of biodiversity conservation is intertwined with, and relies on a commitment to greater access, inclusion, and empowerment of people who have many and different views, vantage points, identities and geographies; and who actively participate in biodiversity conservation with equal opportunity and access at all levels of the Region’s structure and membership.

SCB Europe Region will ensure that the recognitions, awards and events that we organise will include the many languages, ecosystems, taxa, disciplines, and diverse backgrounds represented by the membership of the region.

Diversity definition

In alignment with SCB Global’s definition, we consider that diversity includes, but is not limited to, characteristics of age, ethnic heritage, race, skin colour, geography, nationality, language, culture, field of study/work/research, sex or gender, gender identity and/or expression, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic status and/or physical abilities. In all actions involving SCB Europe, we refer to this definition of diversity.
