Sponsorship Guidelines
SCB Europe Region is a member-led organisation and we aspire to the highest standards of ethics. We will always maintain our independence and we will not allow external partnerships to bring our name into disrepute. We have produced a sponsorship guideline to set out the approach and specific criteria that determine when sponsorship is appropriate:
SCB Europe Region Sponsorship Guidelines
SCB Europe Region seeks opportunities for income generation through sponsorships from sponsors who support the Vision and Mission of SCB. In turn, sponsorships enable sponsors to share their company/organisation's vision, position themselves as an environmental and conservation leader, and gain visibility and network with the global environmental and conservation community.
SCB Europe Region is a member-led organisation and we aspire to the highest standards of ethics. We will always maintain our independence and we will not allow external partnerships to bring our name into disrepute. There are occasions when it is not possible for SCB Europe Region to accept a gift, sponsorship or association with companies, organisations or industries. A list of these are provided below but this list is not exhaustive and all sponsorship will be assessed on a case-by-case basis to ensure it aligns with SCB’s Vision and Mission, and meets our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) statement.
We will not accept sponsorship from companies, organisations or industries involved in the following activities:
- Hydrocarbons, mining or the extraction of fossil fuels.
- Tobacco manufacture.
- Gambling companies.
- Journals and publishers who charge a fee for the publication of material but do not provide the standard and expected publication services such as peer review and editing.
- Greenwashing and spreading misinformation.
- The direct violation of international treaties, codes or standards associated with the protection of human rights. Generating revenue from the sale of pornography.
- Where acceptance of a gift, sponsorship or association and any terms attached to it might be interpreted and/or viewed as having an inappropriate third-party influence on the decisions and work of the Region.
- Where there is any reasonable suspicion of any illegal activity.
All sponsors must have a zero-tolerance approach to slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, or human trafficking within their own organisation and/or within their supply chain.
